Please keep in mind that, similar to the (BAR) Smog Check program, compliance with the Clean Truck Check would be linked to California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) registration. As a result, owners of California-registered heavy-duty trucks will be unable to renew their DMV vehicle registrations unless they can demonstrate that an applicable vehicle is completely compliant with the Clean Truck Check program by the DMV registration renewal date. With the exception of the DMV registration hold, non-California registered vehicles are subject to all of the same program compliance criteria, and are susceptible to enforcement action if operating in California in a non-compliant state.
